Farmers are moving towards farming the Grano peas variety which takes one month less to grow compared to other varieties like snow peas, sugar snaps and garden peas, earning them Sh90,000 more in revenues at the end of the farming season. Grano peas variety matures in two and half months compared to snow peas, sugar snaps and garden peas that take up to three and half months. This means, in one season a farmer harvests up to four tonnes of the Grano peas to earn Sh240,000 compared to the two and half tonnes they would harvest from the other varieties where they would earn Sh150,000.
